iOS Succinctly by Syncfusion is one of the most concise books on iOS I have read. It is the second book in a two-part series on iPhone and iPad app development. Objective-C Succinctly was the initial book and it covered Objective-C and core data structures used by virtually all iOS applications.
iOS Succinctly obviously assumes that you know Objective-C and am basically familiar with the Xcode integrated development environment (IDE). Both of these books are written by Ryan Hodson, so they obviously compliment each other perfectly.
iOS was designed with security in mind. Unlike other mobile operating systems (cough*Android*cough) iOS will not give your application access to the Apple device’s entire file system. iOS gives every application its own separate file system. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Microsoft poked fun at the whole Samsung versus Apple spat. This has obviously lead to the proverbial ‘My dad is better than your dad’ attitude amongst Apple and Samsung fan boys.
But seriously, the truth is that many of the services I use are so ingrained into iOS that I would rather have root canal than migrate them all over to a new platform. (Yes, I am one of those Apple fan boys, I’ll admit it)
One thing is for certain, I am not a fan of Android for various reasons I won’t go into right now … *cough**cough**malware**cough, but if there is one platform I will consider ditching Apple for, it will be Windows Phone. (more…)
